TRLD Conference

This is one of my favorite conference, especially among small conference.  It is about technology, but also about reading and learning disabilities, two issues that I particularly identify with.  My involvement here usually applies to the technology part, and, of course, this year it’s about Web 2.0.  I am also delivering a featured address about the millennial generation, and hope to have a few folks in the audience.

Here are the three presentations I’ll be doing during the three days I’ll be here in San Francisco.

Harnessing the New Shape of Information (2/1)

This is an all day workshop/seminar and tour of a variety of Web 2.0 applications.  Included will be wikis, blogging, podcasting, social networks, mashups, and whatever else arises.  I also hope to impart some sense of what web 2.0 is about, and to inspire some insights about what this means in terms of a school 2.0.

The final activity of this workshop will be a group produced podcast, a conversation about school 2.0.

Teaching & Learning with Millennials (2/2)
The millennial generate is unique in almost every way. They are, by many finding, physically wired differently, largely because of the information experiences that they have. They are almost a different species.

This breakout featured presentation will explore three aspects of the millennial experience.

  1. The economic environment of their time (global)
  2. The information experience (experiential)
  3. The classrooms they are learning in (flat)

An Educator’s Guide to Web 2.0
[2/3)
This will largely be a one-hour version of the workshop I’m conducting on Thursday.  It will be a brief overvies of blogging, and it’s cultural implications, wikis, social bookmarks, mashups, and RSS.
