Annual Technology Showcase — Regional Office of Education #21 (Illinois)

It's what it's all abortIt is an honor to present at the Annual Technology Showcase. As I walked around yesterday, looking at the signs for the presentation topics, I see that this promises to be an especially rich offering for the educators in this area. Here are the links to the online handouts for my presentations.

Keynoted Address: Teaching & Learning on the Edge of Change

This is an open presentation, in which I feel fairly free to include lots of varied issues. Today, I’ll be talking a bit about literacy, kids who grow up playing video games, Web 2.0, and what’s wrong with the “Standards Movement” (did I say that out loud?).

An Educator’s Guide to Podcasting

I noticed a number of podcasting sessions going on at the conference, mostly presented by Apple. So I will probably concentrate on using Audacity for podcasting, an open source program that is available to PC and Linux users.

An Educator’s Guide to Blogging

We’ll actually make a blog in here, just to see how easy the process is. We will also explore some of the context of blogging, why it has become so important to our culture, how to search the blogosphere, and some aggregator applications for educators.
